Success stories: CART - TRIPPER

CUSTOMER

CART - Raposo Tavares Concessionaire is a company of the INVEPAR Group, which, in 2009, took over the administration of the Raposo Tavares axis, a 444 kilometers long highway and its municipal road accesses from Bauru to President Epitácio (São Paulo State, Brazil), being responsible for the roads maintenance and improvement, medical & mechanical care, besides drivers support through its 12 UCC's bases (Users Care Centers) available along the highway.

In Brazil, CART is the sixth highway concessionaire to reach the triple certification (the 3rd in the State of São Paulo). In 2012 it was recognized by FIESP (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo) with an honorable mention for implementing an environmental management system based on ISO 14001:2004 and also awarded with the Medal of Ecology granted by the Brazilian Society of Heraldry and Humanistic.

CHALLENGES

To meet the complex requirements of managing, monitoring and control the operation in the under concession highways, CART had a set of solutions and procedures that needed to be unified into a new and modern operation control center that was being built.

Thus, there was a need for an ITS solution (Intelligent Transportation System) able to communicate with field devices (CCTVs, VMS, Callboxes, among others), User Care Centers, Toll Booths, IT & Maintenance teams, as well as being flexible enough to work with the existing software and in use (KCOR, TurboNet, COSWIN), in an integrated way, in order to provide an unified solution to ensure increased efficiency in the highways management and control.

SOLUTION

After a broad analysis and documentation conducted by UPPERCASE Consulting to compile a complete requirement’s book covering the CART’s needs, it started the work of connectors development and configuration in order to integrate the solution with other legacy systems used by the company, through an exclusive communication layer.

Thus, the solution began to exchange information with other software such KCOR (already strongly used by the company to control occurrences), COSWIN (maintenance & helpdesk management), Turbonet (Communication and monitoring of vehicles & resources position), OpenNMS (devices status monitoring), among others, processing and consolidating these data in the TRIPPER, which, through its monitoring panel, displays a broad overview of all aspects of the highway management operation, including a synoptic (displayed on individual monitors and a on a Videowall) where the positions and status of equipment, vehicles and resources, as well as occurrences and care actions are easily monitored by the operators, having greater efficiency and agility in the process.
